Fifty thousand participants were expected for the Islam on Capitol Hill event in Washington D.C. on September 25th. Roughly three thousand showed up. As we reported prior to the event, a small group of Jesus followers from North Carolina were also there to give away DVDs documenting the conversion to Christianity of different Muslims thanks in part to dreams and visions of Jesus they had experienced. The leader of this outreach, evangelist Fabian Grech, recounted their experience at the event:
We split up in small teams and were strategically located in different places. The main place where they were all praying (in front of the Capitol) only had 2 exits at the back. So we had a couple teams at both exits. We followed the strategies that God gave us: to go to them with love, look them in the eyes, show them value and put the the DVD “More Than Dreams (
www.morethandreams.org – testimonies of Muslims get saved by Jesus visiting them in dreams) in their hands to take it home with them. When they asked me what it was about, I told them it was a DVD of dreams Muslims are having in different countries. Quite a few were excited to take it and some even asked me for more to give to their friends. I am still counting how many DVDs we have left, but I think we gave out about 1200 DVDs – which means about 1 out of every 3 took that powerful DVD home.

Awesome!
I’m kind of curious how you’d react if people at your conferences were passing out DVDs called “Christian Awakenings” and telling you they were about Christians growing in grace. Then you watch the DVD at home, and it’s a pagan break-away sect merging Wicca with the Bible and saying it’s historical and biblical, and inviting them to visit local “churches” to learn more.
If that idea bothers you, maybe it’s better to be up front when prostletyzing.

Hi Dan,
The example you used is not a good one, because in that case they lied about the DVD they gave us saying it was about Christians growing in grace, when in reality it was not.
When we went to DC, we never lied about what the DVD was about. It really is about dreams Muslims are having in different countries. And when they asked for more information about it, we made it clear they were having dreams from God, and that Jesus Christ is revealing Himself to Muslims all over the world.
Well Fabian,
A lot of these breakaway sects still consider themselves “Christian.” The deception isn’t in the title, it’s holding back the primary point of the DVD. But if you told them you’re giving DVDs about Muslims converting, then you weren’t decieving.
Hey Dan,
Watch the videos and judge for yourself how deceitful they are.

Rob,
I wouldn’t say the website is misleading, though it’s hard to say if Muslims giving a casual look would be able to tell that it’s a Christian Conversion website. Jesus is a huge prophet in Islam, and there’s much confusion possibilities. Not saying it’s unethical though.
I’d say it would be similar if people at your church were passing out a DVD called “Messages from Gabriel,” about Christians who hear from the Lord’s messaging angel. If they were a new sect of Christianity who believed Gabriel was Jesus, and they worshipped Gabriel, you’d probably want them to give you full disclosure before they gave a bunch of DVD’s you would find heretical.
To most muslims, your DVD’s are sacriligious, so it could cause some resentment once the purpose is figured out (if you’re ok with that, it’s not problem).
Sounds like Dan is more concerned about not offending Muslims than he is about sharing Jesus with them. I think the DVD is a great idea and that it was presented in a fair, honest way. Its more than a one time gift; they can watch it as much as they wish. Spiritual Dreams are held highly in Islam and the fact that God spoke to Muslims through dreams to lead them towards Jesus as Christ is praiseworthy. Sorry Dan, this was a great evangelistic effort, no matter how much you want to downplay it.
