Below is a video from James White broken up into three parts which shows White interacting with a video from Young-Earth Creation Science advocate Kent Hovind on the history of the Bible, and why the King James Version of the Bible is the “real” Bible. Dr. White has interacted extensively with King James Onlyists, writing a book on the subject and engaging in debates, and so he is thoroughly versed in their arguments and mindset.
What I find particularly important about this video, other than serving as a thoroughly amusing debunking of a common KJV-Only line of reasoning, is what Dr. White mentions in part 3 concerning the danger of this sort of simplistic, factually deficient teaching:
The reason i address this… is that a person who believes this, could never defend this against a knowledgeable opponent to Christianity. A Bart Ehrman would feast on this really bad information, as would a Shabir Ally, Muslims and secularists. We can’t be producing this kind of bad apologetic and putting it out there. Can you imagine a young person, and this is all they have, and they go into a secular situation? They are going to be destroyed, because they were not given the right information, and that’s what makes it really important.
Below then is the video from Kent Hovind, with responses from Dr. White interspersed. The purpose in posting this is not to go after Kent Hovind, but rather to show why we need to get our facts straight when presenting our reasons for believing what we do, and be lovers of truth before being defenders of our positions. As we present our positions in the cultural landscape of ideas, we must do our research!
BTW, if after watching part 3, you’re intrigued as to how a Christian book could be described as “the single most error ridden book I’ve ever read in English,” check out this video from a debate between White and Riplinger, for an example of some remarkable KJV-Only “God-given” acrostic algebra from the book Hovind mentions as a recommended resource.

Disclaimer first: I am not a KJV only person, I have no special consideration for Kent Hovind, I am neither a Cavinist nor an Armenian etc etc.
Writing this from the heart with a lot of agony. There is a lot of bad teaching on YouTube which includes Dr. White’s teaching on Calvinism. Is Dr. White going to do a refutation on all of them? This may not be true for everyone, but personally, I find all this back and forth very unsettling for my heart. I love the KJV, as much as I love NKJV, NASB, Darby’s New Translation, YLT etc., but I was saved as a little boy reading the “Good News Bible”, simply because my parents correctly knew that I could not handle some of the better translations.
I thank God for humble scholars, (Dr. Brown, pls. stop reading here) like Dr. Brown and Dr. Arthur Farstad, and Dr. Zane Hodges – whom I had the privilege of knowing. In the meantime I continue to pray for myself for more humility. I did not post this for the sake of going back and forth with anyone who does not agree with me…but just that we must guard our spirits from this attitude of back and forth just for the sake of winning an argument. I am sure Dr. White did this response with a good heart and for the sake of truth, for which I am thankful, but we, the greater audience can get an “attitude”. I speak from experience – and which is the reason I highly esteem Dr. Brown, because while I do not fully agree with all of his theology, he is a great saint of God and my life has been blessed by his example. Be blessed.
I agree with you to a certain extent James. I think (at least maybe in these times) that we as believers or followers of Christ, shouldn’t so much be worried or put forth too much effort on the smaller theological things and maybe focus a bit more on evangelism. Just good plain ol’ getting the good news of Jesus Christ dying for our sins out there and not focus so much on the other smaller arguments. Correcting each other maybe-yes, and truth v lies-ofcours, but as far as approximate dates and times and which bible to read whether it be Amplified Bilbe, NIV, KJV or whatever it may be.
BTW, I also am a huge fan and supporter of Dr. Michael Brown, Frank Turek and the rest of the many Christian soldiers out there in the fight and marching on. Men to look up to and I’m very appreciative to their work in Christ Jesus.

If that makes any sense.
